Description
Star brite Premium -46 °C Antifreeze offers protection against freezing for water systems and engines during winter storage. This propylene glycol-based antifreeze contains corrosion inhibitors that protect all metal parts and seals and is safe for copper, brass, and plastic. Undiluted, it provides protection down to -46 °C and prevents pipes from bursting due to frost. It is suitable for use in boats, RVs, caravans, vacation homes, and swimming pools. The reliable solution for winterizing various vehicles and machinery. Undiluted use provides burst protection down to -46 °C. If you are winterizing a system with PVC (plastic) pipes and temperatures drop below -23 °C, we recommend using Star brite Bio-Origin Antifreeze (for proper protection to -70 °C). All winterizing products by industry standards are rated by burst protection and not freeze protection. So, what's the difference? When we say that an antifreeze fluid protects to -46 °C, it means that a copper pipe filled with that product will burst at -46 °C. The actual solution will start to form ice crystals at approximately -9 °C down to -11 °C. The temperature at which ice crystals start to form is called the freezing point. As the temperature drops, the solution continues to form denser ice crystals and expands. As the solution expands, it puts pressure on the pipe and at -46 °C the copper pipe will burst. A PVC pipe will burst at about -23 °C since it is not as strong as a copper pipe. The burst temperature rating is used as a standard to save customers money. Since the stored engine or pipe is not being used, it is not necessary to keep the system ice crystals free. To do so would require a greater concentration of winterizing fluid, which would cost more money and provide no additional benefit.

Instructions
For water system Winter lay up: 1. Drain entire water system as thoroughly as possible. Open the hot and cold water faucets as well as all other outlets. Blow out as much water as possible with air pressure. 2. Drain hot water tank - leave petcock open after draining. By-pass hot water tank by disconnecting the inlet and outlet lines and connect them together with fittings or hose and hose clamps. 3. Add antifreeze to potable water system. 4. Pressurize your system or turn on demand pump. 5. Starting with the furthermost faucet, open each faucet and allow the antifreeze to flow until colored liquid appears, then close faucet. 6. Repeat step 5 at each fresh water outlet. 7. Flush toilet several times to ensure complete drainage. Note: Make sure holding tank is thoroughly drained. 8. Activate the pump valve several times to be sure there is sufficient antifreeze to protect waste system. Then in the Spring: Flush the entire system thoroughly with fresh water for 15-20 minutes until all of the colored antifreeze is removed from the system and not visible.
